Coleman was from Lancashire and born in Blackpool. Coleman attended Arnold School in Blackpool where she was head girl and scored straight A's in her A-levels. The British Soap Awards 2009 nominated her in both the Best Actress - Sexiest Feminine as well as the Best Dramatic Performance category. Coleman was nominated for Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards. The 21st of March, 2012 Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat confirmed at a press conference that Coleman was set to as the Doctor's companion along with Matt Smith after Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill have left the show. Moffat chose to choose her for the role because she has the best chemistry with Smith. She also spoke quicker than him. She has been much more visible on television as opposed to films. Out of the many roles Eva has appeared in on television shows, Dr. Maria Santos in All My Children and Detective Natalia Boa Vista' in CSI Miami are the two which are the most notable. It was the former that brought her two nominations for a 'Daytime Emmy. Also, she got to express her creative side via music. Eva, in addition to being an actress is also an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Eva has had three marriages and is the mother of a child from her first husband.
